Q-Park are delighted to announce the introduction of EV Charging Points into their Meadows parking facility in Chelmsford and their Chatham Place parking facility in Reading.

Q-Park are delighted to announce the introduction of EV Charging Points into their Meadows parking facility in Chelmsford and their Chatham Place parking facility in Reading.

Q-Park have operated the Meadows car park since 2016 and it serves the nearby Meadows Shopping Centre. Due to its excellent cand easily accessible city centre location it is also popular amongst commuters and visitors to other local attractions. The Chatham Place car park in Reading has been operated by Q-Park since 2007 when it was first constructed. It provides parking for the local residential development of the same name but is also near enough to the city centre to be well used by shoppers and commuters.

Q-Park are currently investing over £3m in the UK and Ireland on the rollout of initially over 600 EV Charging Points across their portfolio of parking facilities. Installations commenced last year and included the modernisation of the existing charging infrastructure with the latest state-of-the-art hardware. On completion of this significant deployment programme, discussions will start on future phases with Q-Park eager to remain at the forefront of electric charging in the parking market.

Now that these works have been completed, both parking facilities have eight 22kW EV Charging Points operated by EB Charging that are charged on a pay as you go basis. They are located on Level 1 at each car park. Users wanting to sign up to use the Charging Point are required to download the EB Go! smart phone app that is available for free download in the Apple and Google Play store.

John Denton, Head of Commercial at Q-Park UK and IE commented ‘Liveability in urban areas is vitally important, and we are delighted to help support more emission free miles being driven with good quality charging infrastructure. Our comprehensive EV Charging Point roll-out is progressing throughout the country in 2023 but it’s especially pleasing that we can expand our offering into cities where didn’t previously have any.’
